We have been made aware that the Nautical Institute is advertising a new position TRAINING AND QUALITY MANAGER which will be located in NI headquarters in London.

 

JOB ADVERTISEMENT – TRAINING AND QUALITY MANAGER 

 

The Nautical Institute is seeking a self motivated, innovative maritime training professional to lead a number of key NI projects in fields including: simulation, competency and quality management, leadership, and a wide range of operational subjects in support of our publishing strategies. The post will also involve developing and implementing NI accreditation services. This work will be integrated with all aspects of NI activity including membership, the development of best practices, IMO, and continuing professional development (CPD). It will be wholly focused on practical solutions with a professional ethos. 

 

The development and implementation of original projects within this role makes this post highly compatible with higher education studies and would be suitable for a creative thinker at any stage in their career who seeks to make a difference. 

 

Personal profile: 

 

  • The successful candidate is likely to be a qualified mariner with a higher education qualification and preferably a member of The Nautical Institute. 

 

  • He or she should have good communication skills, proven writing ability, be computer literate, and have good command of the English language. 

 

  • A key attribute will be knowledge and experience of maritime training and education, particularly with the use of simulation and CBT, and have a practical appreciation of the commercial environment. 

 

  • The successful candidate must be able to work within a small team as well as independently, have empathy with people of different nationalities, and have the character to maintain professional standards. 

 

  • The capability to keep track of and work on a number of areas at the same time is essential. 

 

The position is based at NIHQ in London, will entail some European and overseas travel and will involve general promotion of the value of the Nautical Institute as is the case for all staff. 

 

This is envisaged as a three year post with possible opportunities for extension, and is offered with a salary in the range of £35,000 to £45,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
